Let customers speak for us
from 8 reviewsI like the idea of identifying with your observer self to get some real perspective on who you really are. I am a big fan of Brene Brown, so I enjoyed this book as it gives you a more psychological view of what's going on in your head when you think about who you are and what's your place in the world. I've read about acceptance and commitment therapy before but this book explains it better than anything I've read previously and shows you how to put all this theory into practice. It's a book that's all about using this information in your life instead of just theorizing about it. Certainly opened my eyes and actually got me reaching for a pen and paper to get started on making a few changes!
This book was an interesting read. I highly recommend it.
Very good book. Really helped me out. Lot of really good advice and very good explanations of emotions. Easy to read, plain language without technical terms and there's lots to think about. It's for help with more extreme emotions. Certainly made me feel better and more in control over the last couple of weeks.
Arrived middle of the week and I read it this weekend. It's a big thing at work at the moment to develop more EQ instead of IQ if you're looking at management. I didn't realize there was so much to it. I took the EQ tests and did the evaluation and it was informative. I'm working on boosting things as advised and it seems to be going well. It's a lot to take in at one go but I'll keep on working through it over the coming weeks. Very good book in all honesty. Easy to read, no jargon but serious and informative at the same time. Not a bad price either for a 230 page book.
I never understood before that real willpower comes from habitual behavior. I never made that connection, that creating habits, bit by bit, leads to serious self-discipline. I just cave in after a week or two of trying to get in shape but after taking the advice in this book, I decided to go at it bit by bit, and it's working! The chapters about the social side of willpower, motivation, and turning negatives into positives, really stand out and those four lifesaver questions for moments of temptation are amazing.
There’s a lot of humor, good explanations, and plenty of examples. It’s written in a very casual style, so it’s an easy read but the info is dynamite. Good book. My brother’s reading it at the moment and I don’t think I’ve ever seen him read this much at a single stretch in my life. He’s usually done after a quarter-hour but he’s been at it 2 hours now. That’s a first.
Quite a thick book with a lot of advice and explanations. What helps though are the summaries, suggestions, and exercises. The author sure knows their stuff and I found myself nodding in agreement all the way through. I've read the book but I'll be working on the exercises for months to come. It works as a reference book too as I'll probably be referring to it again and again. I got it as part of a bundle, so it was a seriously good price. Which always helps!
I had no idea about the concept of reparenting. My childhood was crap. Drunken dad and lunatic mom. I was looking at the inner child idea when I came across this reparenting book. It was an odd concept but it has really helped me move forward with my life. My parents had their issues but that's ok, I can take care of myself now. Really recommend this book to anyone who is struggling with their past.
The poet Philip Larkin wrote;
"They f*ck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you."
Well, they don't f*ck me up anymore.
I bought this because I was flying off the handle too much at work. I couldn't understand what was going on but my sister in law recommended reading this. So I did. I hadn't realized how much my relationship with my dad, growing up, was affecting me today. There's loads of excercises to work through and plenty of suggestions on how to stay calm and understand what's happening to you. It really helped me out. I'm doing better now. I never believed in all that past trauma crap but there's something to it. At least I'm not in danger of getting fired now! Good book. Short and to the point. Just how I like it.
